I'm lucky enough to have received an ARC (advanced reading copy) of R.S. Grey's latest book Hotshot Doc. Thank you R.S. Grey!! It couldn't have come at a better time. It's really starting to get cold and grey here in Stockholm, which makes curling up with an amazing romance novel the perfect thing to do.

About Hotshot Doc

Hotshot Doc

Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off-chance he’s within earshot.I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway…half-hidden behind a plant.Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant. That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated. It’s fine. I’m fine.I take my job seriously. There will be no smouldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the storage closet. (Well, no more of those.) What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

So… What Did I Think of the Hotshot Doc?

Bailey is instantly likeable. She's sarcastic and comes across as confident on the outside, but on the inside her thoughts are hilarious and insecure. Somehow R.S. Grey writes in a way that even after a few chapters, you can feel yourself in the main characters shoes. The way she switches between characters at each chapter is seamless. Each chapter is exciting to start and I find myself eager to find out what’s happening with the other character. This is part of the reason I have to put everything else aside when I reading an R.S Grey book. I can't just read a chapter and then get back to the real world. I have to know what happens next, even if it's 1am.

And shall we talk about just how arrogant and sexy Matt is. How does R.S. Grey pull that off? At first I want to dislike him, but it doesn't take long to see a side of him that is much more likeable and not so cold after all. Not to mention incredibly hot!

There have been very few books that actually make me laugh out loud as I’m reading, but this was one of them. R.S. Grey is hilarious and I couldn’t put this book down! I neglected almost everything else I should have been doing, including sleep just to find out what was going to happen.

R.S. Grey writes with an ability to completely suck you into the story and really feel a part of what is going on. It's always so sad to finish because it feels like I’m saying goodbye to really good friends. She has a way to write a hilarious story that has heart and is also very romantic.

As with the first book I read by R.S. Grey I was left feeling like I needed more when I finished. If only these books were longer, I never feel like I’ve had enough of the story by the time it’s finished! I’m left wanting more, so much more!!

Cheers, Jess
