Visiting Home - My Australian Holiday: Sydney

Now that I'm back in Stockholm and have recovered from the jet lag, I've had some time to put together a post on my trip home to Australia. A few weeks ago Giordie and I went back for the first time since we moved.

I left here with mixed feelings. The last year seems to have gone by so quickly, but at the same time it feels like it's been forever since we lived there. I was wondering how much had changed and how much had stayed the same. I was really looking forward to seeing my friends and family, but I was going to miss Daniel who had to stay behind and work. Also I was very nervous about the long haul flight! As you may know I get pretty tense flying, so the thought of spending 21 hours in the air had me a little on edge. It all went well though, with my nerves holding up and the flight only being a little bumpy and not too unbearable.

We spent our first week in Sydney and then headed down to Melbourne for another week. (Stay tuned for my Australian holiday - Part 2) It's winter in Australia at the moment but the weather gods looked upon us kindly and we had blue skies and sunshine for most of our first week. After experiencing my first winter in Stockholm I really enjoyed being able to sit at the beach in a t-shirt during winter.AustraliaOf course spending some much loved quality time with my friends was the highlight of my trip :) But as well as hanging out with them I had a list of places to visit and foods to eat. There's a number of foods that I can't get here in Stockholm that I've missed. So one of my first stops was for chai and a bacon and egg roll. Oh, how I have missed bacon and egg rolls! When I looked at my list I realised that it was going to be an eating tour of Australia... Meat Pie, Fish and Chips, Banana Bread, Tim Tams, Lamingtons, Chicken Parmigiana and the list goes on! I realised by the end of my trip that 2 weeks is not enough time to eat all the foods that I have missed though, so I have already started compiling a new list for next time.Australia

Of course while I was back home I also had to get in as many good coffees as I could :)
